Still, these warnings often prove useful, such as the ones that point out that a Web site is trying to access your computer or that an address you typed in is dangerous. It particularly guards against so-called “phishing” attacks.

I’ve been out on a limb before, and maybe this is going too far, but here goes: I vehemently approve of something Microsoft did. I like Windows Vista even though I am duty bound to show you a few flaws.

Microsoft’s Vista operating system for personal computers finally was distributed to businesses Nov. 30, which was five years after the debut of hacker-battered Windows XP.
