Windows Vista Security Part 2

Monday, October 1st, 2007

This week we continue our tour of security features in Windows Vista. Our focus is on those features that are new or upgraded from previous versions of Windows such as Windows 2000 and Windows XP. Sooner or later, Windows users will have to make the leap and upgrade to Vista. So even if you are not already using the operating system, this overview will give you an advanced peek at the security upgrades in Vista.

Remote Control/Desktop
Remote control is an important part of the operating system. In this guide we have tried to avoid monoculture by encouraging the use of highly secure, well-written 3rd party apps. To that end, we have consistently recommended Remote Administrator from Famatech. It is a low cost, high integrity solution for managing remote machines. Note that only version 3.0 and above of the Radmin server will work with Windows Vista. InformIT: Security Reference Guide > Windows Vista Security, Part 2
