Windows Vista Security Part 1

Are you ready to make the leap to Vista? Maybe not, but it is good to be prepared. One of the most important considerations when upgrading is security. Will Vista’s new security features help or hurt the fledgling OS? Read on to find out! As a Windows XP user, sooner or later you will have to upgrade to Windows Vista. Personally, for Microsoft Windows applications I still use XP on my own workstation because I find Vista painfully slow.

In fact it has been too slow to use, even on relatively fast PCs such as the ultimate gaming rig on a budget we built for InformIT. However, all of our employees have been upgraded to Vista, so we’ve gained a passing familiarity with the security features. For those that are new to the OS, we’ll help introduce new security features in this new Vista Security mini-series. We’ll also give helpful security tweaks and tips. This section is written for the advanced beginner or intermediate level user. More advanced users and network admins who have not yet upgraded to Vista might also find it to be a useful overview.
