Windows Vista: Day 6

I’ve been living with Vista for about 6 days now (see the previous Labs coverage), and I continue 
to be surprised with the functionality that I find buried inside. More on that later, though. First I’ll tell you about my latest fun.
Videocard and monitor
After many unsuccessful attempts to get Vista to display at my preferred resolution, I decided to uninstall both the monitor and videocard drivers and let Vista try to figure out what they were. It pretended to find the correct drivers and had me reboot.
Upon reboot the screen went blank and never came back. I then did a forced reboot, and Vista went into Safe Mode. In Safe Mode I didn’t see anything out of the ordinary.
Another reboot later Vista came up fine. This time, where my VX2025wm driver once was I now had a generic driver; the same for my videocard. I decided to leave it alone and play around with some Vista-specific features. Geek.com Geek News - Windows Vista: Day 6
