Windows Vista Compatibility Check
Friday, December 22nd, 2006
Microsoft has started to bring some of its troubled software into compatibility with Windows Vista.
Two updates from yesterday worth noting: Visual Studio 2005 Service Pack 1 Update for Windows Vista Beta and the Zune Marketplace. A third for future compatibility: Kernel Patch Protection Criteria Evaluation Document.
The Visual Studio update, even in beta, addresses situations other developers will need to deal with. According to Microsoft: "While we have made tremendous investments in Windows Vista to ensure backwards compatibility, some of the system enhancements, such as User Account Control [UAC], changes to the networking stack, and the new graphics model, make Windows Vista behave differently from previous versions of Windows."
