Vista System Memory Concerns
Saturday, November 18th, 2006
As Vista positions itself for an upcoming release date, many consumers are showing concerns over
the required systems resources needed to give Vista the power it needs to wow and dazzle.
The word on the street is that you should be fine with a gigabyte of RAM, but those of us who are familiar with the realities of running a robust operating system with less than adequate resources would say that working with a full two gigs makes a lot more sense in the long run.
Then, we run into issues with the need for upgrading the system’s graphics card. For the poor saps who run systems with integrated video adapters, it’s safe to say that they can forget about running Vista. Well, OK. Maybe they can squeak by running at the lowest settings, but I doubt it.
To be honest, I believe that the video card requirements will prove to be the biggest single challenge for Vista adoption this late in the game. Unlike XP, where you could slide by with very little computer resources, Vista is not going to be so forgiving. OSWeekly.com - Vista System Memory Concerns
