Renewed security risks for Windows Vista
Friday, October 27th, 2006
The anti-piracy measures to be introduced in Microsoft’s next Windows operating system could
create new computer security risks for its users, says a veteran industry commentator.
Writing in a column for US technology website PCMag.com, John C. Dvorak says Windows Genuine Advantage (WGA), the activation and validation scheme behind Windows Vista, "could become a problem if the layer itself is ever targeted by a virus or Trojan horse."
Dvorak has written about computers and technology since the 1980s and is a long time contributor to US titles such as PC Magazine, New York Times, Forbes, Los Angeles Times and Marketwatch. Renewed security risks for Windows Vista - Security - Technology - theage.com.au
