More Windows Vista Options for More Mac Users
Tuesday, September 12th, 2006
Mac users can Boot Camp their way to natively running multiple operating systems, but that
requires rebooting — a hassle.
The other main option is virtualization software from Parallels, which has now put out a release candidate (RC) that adds support for 64-bit Mac Pros and compatibility with the upcoming Windows Vista and Apple Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard OSs. Early reports from users are that it’s not a given that the software will actually work; Parallels execs say they know there are still a few issues with the RC, but they’re happy with progress to date.
Presumably, the company wanted to get out ahead of the anticipated release of VMware virtualization software that will incorporate Mac OS X compatibility, though Parallels now seems to be headed toward more of a focus on the desktop virtualization space than previously indicated. :: Bullet Points :: » More Windows Vista Options for More Mac Users
