Microsoft touts Vista-ready hardware and software
Saturday, October 14th, 2006
During his keynote address at the four-day Ziff-Davis Digital Life event in New York, Microsoft
corporate VP of Windows Client Marketing Mike Sievert announced the holiday availability of over 250 Vista-ready products. Covering hardware, software, and games, the products will carry the "Certified for Windows Vista" logo or the "Works with Windows Vista" logo.
Products currently undergoing the logo testing process include the Logitech Cordless Desktop MX 3200 Laser Mouse, a slew of NVIDIA graphics cards, web cams, and WinDVD Creator. Products from companies like HP, Belkin, ATI, Seagate, and most of the other industry heavyweights will also be certified as being Vista-ready by the time the holiday shopping season rolls around.
Although PCs with Vista preinstalled will not be available for the shopping season, Microsoft wants to be sure consumers are aware that the PCs and peripherals that ship prior to then will work smoothly with Vista when it is released early next year. To that end, many Windows XP PCs already carry the Windows Vista Capable sticker to let consumers know that they can easily upgrade once Vista arrives.
