Microsoft Asks OEMs To Pitch In On Vista Upgrades
Tuesday, August 22nd, 2006
Microsoft will ask PC makers to offer incentives to fall buyers for upgrades of its upcoming Windows
Vista operating system, a report said Monday.
According to Bloomberg Asia, Microsoft’s regional director for Greater China said that the Redmond, Wash. developer would approach its OEM partners.
"We’ll encourage our partners to provide incentives to promote the sales,” Alex Huang told reporters in Taipei, Taiwan. "Each partner will have their own strategy.”
U.S.-based representatives of the company said somewhat the same thing, but refused to confirm any details. "We are talking with all our partners about plans for an offer," said a Microsoft spokesperson, "but those discussions are ongoing and we have nothing more to share at this time."
