Is Java faster on Vista?

…In any case, after the OS I installed build 93 of Java SE 6 (Mustang.) The Mustang install went
smoothly, and after I identified where Vista stores personal profile data I was easily able to copy my IntelliJ IDEA configuration data and fire up the IDE. All my projects are stored on a separate drive that is accessible to both Windows XP and Vista, and I had no problem loading up the project containing the upcoming new version of Javalobby. We tinkered around a little to persuade IntelliJ to use Mustang’s subpixel antialiasing, and I was delighted with the clarity of the screen fonts. I checked the debug settings for Caucho Resin, launched the web application, and to my surprise it was up and running faster than I had ever seen it launch on this machine.
I clicked around to various pages to force JSP compilations, and it seemed notably faster all around - so much faster that both Matt and I both considered it significant. I rebooted into Windows XP and launched the same application there. It took nearly twice as long to launch, and there were noticeable lags (well, I’m probably splitting hairs, lags of a second or more) when we clicked around to load various JSPs. Our Java web application on Vista seemed faster than Java on XP. Is Java faster on Vista? …
