Getting ready for Windows Vista
Monday, July 17th, 2006
If you’re like me and thinking about getting a new computer this year, the best advice may be to
wait.
There are some big changes on the horizon for the computer world and your next PC will need to be able to keep up. Right now, the people up in Redmond, Wash. — the hometown of Microsoft — and the people in Cupertino, Calif. — where Apple Computers is based — are in a race to see who can get out their hardware’s next operating system first.
And, there are a lot of high expectations of both of these new operating systems. Apple’s OS X “Leopard” is expected to be able to at least boot Windows XP and some people are hoping it will even run Microsoft software natively.
Over at Microsoft, Bill Gates has said there is an 80 percent chance Vista will be released in January, but he added that there could be delays if beta testing throws up further bugs. Kerrville Daily Times
